D A Johnson was born in Cheshire, and lived his early life in Oldham, Lancashire, where he attended the Hulme Grammar School.

D A Johnson has been an event organiser, and sold Balinese carvings from a market stall.

He is now a Senior Psychiatric Social Worker and Therapist in mental health services in the West Midlands.

His poems depict common human struggles, with relationships, meaning, distress and the search for God.
